Services

Roofing services

Pitched and flat roofs on houses across County Durham and Wearside. Every job starts with a free survey and a written quote.

Roof repairs and leaks

Most leaks start small: a slipped slate, a cracked tile, or flashing that has lifted. We find the cause rather than just patching the stain on the ceiling.

Typical jobs

  • Replacing slipped or broken slates and tiles
  • Resealing or replacing lead flashing at walls and chimneys
  • Tracing a leak that has come back after an earlier repair

What you get: photos of the problem before and after, and a written price before we start.

New roofs and re-roofs

When a roof is past repairing, we strip it back to the rafters and rebuild it with new membrane, battens and your choice of slate or tile.

Typical jobs

  • Re-roofing a terraced house in natural or man-made slate
  • Re-tiling a semi in concrete interlocking tiles
  • New dry-fix ridges and verges, so there's no mortar to crack

What you get: scaffolding, skip and waste removal listed in the quote from the start, not added later.

Chimneys

Chimneys take the worst of the weather. Loose pointing and failed flashing are common causes of damp in upstairs rooms.

Typical jobs

  • Repointing a stack and fitting new lead flashing
  • Capping pots on chimneys that are no longer used
  • Taking down an unsafe stack and roofing over the gap

What you get: a safe, weathertight stack and photos of the finished work.

Flat roofs

We replace tired felt with GRP fibreglass or EPDM rubber, which last much longer when they're laid properly.

Typical jobs

  • GRP roof on a kitchen extension
  • EPDM rubber roof on a garage
  • Re-covering a dormer roof and replacing the trims

What you get: a neat, one-piece finish with proper edge trims and a sensible fall so water runs off.

Fascias, soffits and guttering

Blocked or sagging gutters send water down your walls. We clear, fix and replace the whole roofline.

Typical jobs

  • Clearing blocked gutters and downpipes
  • Replacing rotten timber fascias and soffits with uPVC
  • Fixing leaking gutter joints and realigning sagging runs

What you get: gutters that drain properly, checked with water before we leave.

Storm damage and emergency cover

After high winds, we put homes with water getting in first. We make the roof watertight, then quote for the permanent repair.

Typical jobs

  • Temporary tarpaulin cover the same day where we can
  • Re-fixing ridge tiles and slates blown off in a storm
  • Photos and notes you can send to your insurer

What you get: a watertight roof first, and an honest view of what the proper repair needs.

Roof surveys

Not sure what's wrong, or buying a house and want to know the roof's condition? We'll inspect it, take photos and explain what we find.

Typical jobs

  • Free survey before quoting any job
  • Photo report on a roof's condition for home buyers
  • Second opinion on a quote you've been given

What you get: plain answers about what needs doing now, what can wait, and what doesn't need doing at all.

Questions

Common questions

Is the survey really free?

Yes. We look at the roof, take photos and give you a written quote. There's no charge and no obligation.

Do you need scaffolding?

Small repairs can often be done from a ladder or roof ladder. Bigger jobs need scaffolding to be safe. If it's needed, it's in the quote from the start.

Do you ask for money upfront?

Not for repairs. For bigger jobs we may ask for a deposit towards materials, agreed in writing before we start.

Can you help with an insurance claim?

We can give you photos and a written report of the damage to send to your insurer. Whether they pay out is up to them.

Do you knock on doors?

No, never. If someone turns up unannounced offering roof work, don't let them start. A good roofer doesn't need to find work that way.
